BoAt Airdopes 171
Design & Build Quality
BoAt Airdopes 441 look very compact with a matte finish with a simple design. There’s a symbol of ‘BoAt’ in each earbud.
The material and design aspects were kinds of neglected this time. I’m complaining about the plastic build but the overall build quality just looks cheap.
It has a wide collection of 15 colours with IPL editions but due to poor design and finish they don’t really make any difference.
BoAt Airdopes 171 on the other hand looks exactly the same as Airdopes 121v2. The same compact and clean design with their ‘BoAt’ in the glossy middle section.
You get only 4 colours options to choose from but each colour really looks good. The light variants like Cool Grey or Rose Gold tend to get dirty fast.
Compared to Airdopes 441 the finish is smoother and gives a somewhat premium feeling. So, Airdopes 171 is surely better.
Last but not least, both are very lightweight. As per information, Aidorpes 171 earbuds weigh just 4.2 grams each, and Airdopes 441 around 6.7 grams each. Almost the same.
The design of Airdopes 441 with ear-wings/flags can cause discomfort for many including me. However, they are during workout sessions.
On the other hand, I found Airdopes 171 more comfortable as the finish is smooth and small. Also, there are no ear-flag.
Bass & Sound Quality
Both have the same frequency response range of 20-20,000Hz and are equipped with 6mm bass drivers. But there are day and night differences in bass quality.
In terms of the sound quality without any kind of heavy bass, I’ll they both are very identical. Very clean, loud, and crispy sound quality.
If you are a fan of high bass then sadly Airodpes 171 isn’t for you. It just feels flat no matter how much you raise the volume unless you are boosting them using an equalizer.
Airdopes 441 on the other hand has very deep bass. So high that most of the time it can overpower the vocals and makes many instruments quiet.
Airdopes 171 and 441 are the complete opposite. One is too low and one is too high. Both can be solved using an equalizer.
To increase bass, use the ‘Rock‘ preset. Set the bass boost to 100% and raise the 60.00Hz bar until it cracks the sound. Try to adjust the 910.00Hz and 14.00Hz accordingly to adjust the vocals.
To reduce bass, use the ‘Pop‘ preset. you can manually lower the 60.00Hz bar even more if needed and raise the 910.00Hz bar to focus more on vocals.
Battery Life & Charging Time
Other than the bass battery backup is a huge advantage of Airdopes 441. More time-efficient as well.
BoAt Airdopes 441 and 171 have 30 hours (5 hours in earbuds and 25 hours in charging case) and 13 hours (3 hours in earbuds and 10 hours in charging case) of total battery backup respectively.
The Airdopes 441 takes around 1.5 hours to get fully charged and Airdopes 171 needed around 2 hours. 30 minutes more. There’s no fast charging.
Thanks to the USB-C charging port of Airdopes 441 it gets charged fast while Airdopes 171 has a micro-USB port.
Controls & Functions
BoAt Airdopes 441 has a touch panel to pause/play each earbud along with features like activating voice assistant, taking/ending calls. They generally respond well.
Airdopes 171 has a multifunction button and has all the same functions as Airdopes 441. Functions are included in the manual. Not going to waste your time here.
Note: You can’t control volume.
The charging case of both Airdopes 441 and 171 looks the same. The same matte finish. An indicator on the front side and the charging port are located at the back.
Both charging is very compact, lightweight which makes them easy to carry. As for built quality, good enough.
Bluetooth Version: Both editions have Bluetooth 5.0 with a 10 m range.
Water-Resistance: Airdopes 441 and 171 are IPX7 and IPX4 rated respectively. IPX7 is better if you sweat a lot. Also, IPX7 rated earbuds can survive in 1-meter water for 30 minutes.
Call/Mic Quality: Each earbud includes a mic. Both are just good for normal calling. Not that reliable for online sessions and gaming.
Noise Cancellation: Neither has ANC (Active Noise Cancellation). But both are able to seal your ears well enough to resist normal home and environmental noises.
Accessories: USB-C/Micro-USB cable for charging, charging case, ear caps of different sizes, and all the required papers like the manual, warranty card, etc are included.
