Design & Build Quality

Out of all the colour options of boAt Bassheads 172, the black colour looks the most attractive among all the 3 options.

On the other hand, Realme Buds 2 comes in 4 colours and almost all the colours are catchy. Out of them, the orange one might will catch your attention the most.

This time Bassheads 172 got a metallic finish. The design is simple and elegant. Because of the metallic finish, it might look like a ‘chest-piece’ of a stethoscope.

Both Bassheads and Realme Buds 2 almost look alike. The design is almost the same except for the finish. Even though Realme Buds 2 looks way more classy and stylish.

The finishing combo of glossy and matte with a catchy colour theme can easily attract any earphone lover.

Both of the earphones look solid and used high-quality material. No complaint about that.

Another good thing is, both weigh only 13 grams, and wearing this you will feel like there’s nothing in your ears.

Bassheads 172 did a great job on their finish and design, but Realme Bud 2 stole my attention.

Bass & Sound Quality

Realme Bud 2 did a great job in terms of sound and bass quality as well. Let me tell you why.

First thing first, both have the same 20Hz – 20KHz frequency response. The ideal range for humans.

The main difference is in driver size and impedance. Realme Buds 2 did not compromise to provide the most they could.

The Bassheads 172 has a 10mm driver and 16 ohms impedance. While Realme Buds 2 has an 11.2mm (bass boost)  driver and 32 ohms impedance. Double of Bassheads 172.

The higher the driver size and impedance will be the better the bass and sound quality will be. Also, high impedance increases sound clarity.

I won’t say Realme Buds 2 can wipe out all the external noises for the passive noise cancellation but did a bit better job compared to Bassheads 2.

So, still based on all these facts, my money is still on Realme Buds 2. Let’s explore some more.

In-Line Mic & Remote

Both of the earphones have an in-line remote with a mic and necessary buttons to control volume and play/pause songs

I’m not sure if it’s a coincidence or not but they don’t just look the same but both used braided cable as well. Braided cords are way stronger and long-lasting than normal rubber-coated cables.

Bassheads 172 and Realme Buds 2 got 1.2m and 1.25m long cord respectively. Perfect in my opinion for normal usage.

Realme could be one step ahead if they added a gold-plated jack instead of a normal jack. Also, the jack is not angled as well.

Bassheads 172 jack is also normal but the jack is at least angled.

Users’ Feedback

boAt described how good the sound and bass quality is but the customers are saying something different.

According to the majority of users, the sound quality is just okay and the bass is just like any other normal earphones.

But overall it’s a good earphone for casual use but to properly enjoy music at high definition, it’s not an ideal choice.

The metallic finishing, braided cable, and L-shaped jack are high appreciated by the users. No complaint about mic quality as well.

Almost the majority of the earphones normally start malfunctioning after several months of use. This model is not an exception as well.

If you are lucky enough, you except for a maximum of one year of life.
