Design & Build Quality
OnePlus Bullets Wireless Z Bass Edition comes in 3 colours – Bold Black, Bass Blue & Reverb Red, and Sony WI-XB400 only offers 2 colours as well – Black & Blue.
I really liked what Sony did. WI-XB400 is a kind of neckband earphone that can be literally folded as you like yet it looks very tough. This is what I like the most about flat neckbands. They are just too flexible.
I always praise the minimal and compact design of Bullets Z but this time Sony WI-XB400 is even better. It is not only lighter and compact but the flat cables made it even more beautiful and easy to handle.
Both of the earphones are very comfortable for longer sessions due to their lightweight design. Also, the earbuds fit perfectly for almost anyone.
Both of the earphones got a premium design and great build quality but if I had to choose one from a design & build quality perspective then I’ll go with Sony WI-XB400.
Bass & Sound Quality
There are many wireless earphones out there with large bass drivers but none of them actually not that better as they are supposed to be. But not this time.
The 12 mm drivers of Sony WI-XB400 actually got the power that takes to create a great bass quality. The updated 9.2 mm drivers of Bullets Z bass edition are surely better than the last edition.
There’s a huge difference between the 9.2 mm and 12 mm drivers. Getting Bluetooth earphones at this price is actually pretty rare.
Unfortunately, so much information is not provided by the brand such as impedance and sensitivity. Because WI-XB400 has 12mm drivers, I’m guessing it has 32 ohms.
But I can say that both got great crystal clear sound quality. So, if you are a deep bass lover then Sony WI-XB400 is for you.
Battery Life & Charging Time
Both have a quick charging feature. But the difference is huge between those two because of the warp charge feature of OnePlus.
Bullets Z can give you 10 hours of battery life just by charging 10 minutes. On the other hand, 10 minutes charge can give Sony WI-XB400 60 minutes/1 hour of battery life.
Sony WI-XB400 and Bullets Z bass edition both offer 15 hours and 17 hours of great full battery life. Sony WI-XB400 takes around 1.5 hours to fully charge and Bullets Z can take around 40-50 minutes.
Remote & Functions
Both are on equal footing here. You get to see all the necessary buttons to control volume, voice assistant, and calls.
There’s no separate remote for those buttons. The buttons are attached at end of the neckband. This makes the earphones look even more clean and compact.
Miscellaneous
Bluetooth Version: Both editions have Bluetooth 5.0 with a 10 m range.
Water-Resistance: Bullets Z have IP55 dust, sweat, and water resistance (it can survive jet spray). Sony WI-XB400 doesn’t have any IP rating so no water resistance. Not suitable for workout sessions.
Call/Mic Quality: Sony WI-XB400 has a great mic that makes the call experience really better. Bullets Z is also good for calls but the mic is not up to mark. It’s good but not ideal.
Noise Cancellation: Other than water resistance this is where Sony WI-XB400 lacks. Bullets Z bass edition is quite good at cancelling noise.
Accessories: USB-C cable for charging, earbuds of different sizes, and all the required papers like the manual, warranty card, etc are included.
Users’ Report, Pros & Cons
Oneplus Bullets Wireless Z

Bass lovers are highly satisfied with this modified version of OnePlus Bullets Z. Also the passive noise cancellation is better compared to the normal edition.
Users also found the low latency mode very helpful when playing online competitive games. Few have complained about a cracking sound during calls and songs as well.
Sony WI-XB400
Users’ Feedback
Though it might be a bit costly for budget users whoever invested in Sony WI-XB400 are totally overwhelmed by its bass and as you know already, the sound is great too.
The minimalist design of the neckband and cabled makes it super comfortable for longer sessions. Also, you can’t go wrong if you need it mainly for calls.
There are two areas it lacks. It is not water-resistant and there’s barely any noise cancellation. Which makes it unusable in workout sessions. Due to lack of noise cancellation calling in noisy places can be hard.
4 Reasons To Choose Sony WI-XB400
Great bass: Bullets Z has good bass too but the 12 mm driers of Sony WI-XB400 take the game to another level.
It’s lighter: Without any information, it’s hard to realize it’s lighter but the lighter the earphones the better for longer sessions.
Great mic & call experience: This is fantastic pair of wireless earphones for taking calls. If it has good noise cancellation then it could enhance the call experience even more.
Looks better: If looks matter to you. Sony WI-XB400 makes it very light, compact, and fragile but actually, it is very strong. The flat cables make it even more beautiful.
4 Reasons To Choose OnePlus Bullets Z Bass Edition
Water-resistance: Bullets Z has an IP55 rating which is not only good enough to defend it from the jet spray but also dust-resistant.
Better noise cancellation: Another weakness of Sony WI-XB400 but plus point for Bullets Z.
Fast charging: Yes you might not get the full 10 hours of backup for charging 10minutes but 6-8 hours for sure.
Cheaper yet great: Based on its price the feature it offers surely makes it a no-brainer deal. If you are not wanting to spend much then it’s a great deal.
Final Words
Sony WI-XB400 offers the kind of sound and bass quality that every music lover dream of but it has some critical flaws or disadvantages like not even having any IP ratings or poor noise cancellation.
With OnePlus Bullets Z you might have to do some compromises like average mic & call experience and lower bass than Sony WI-XB400 but it’s a good deal if you are on a budget.
To conclude if you have the budget for Sony WI-XB400 then go for it but if features like water resistance & good noise cancellation are really essential for you then Bullets Z is there for you.
