Design & Build Quality

OnePlus Bullets Wireless Z Bass Edition comes in 3 colours – Bold Black, Bass Blue & Reverb Red, and Boat Rockerz 255 comes 13 different both theme & solid colours.

As both have a huge difference in price range so of course there’s going to be a big gap in design and build quality.

In case you have checked previous comparisons of Bullets Z on this site, you might know I personally the minimal and lightweight design very much.

Boat Rockerz 255 is as light as Bullets Z but the design of the neckband and earbuds are quite bulky. It is not something that I’ll feel comfortable using for a long time because of the ear guides.

Both have a matte-like finish with some glossy touch in the earbuds. Bullets Z is fully made of metal while Rockerz 255 is made of plastic. Also, the neckband looks a bit fragile because of that.

According to the price of Rockerz 255, the design & build quality is quite good but I have to choose anyone between Rockerz 255 & Bullets Z then I’ll go with the second option.

Bass & Sound Quality

Thanks to Boat for providing all the details about the impedance and drivers. Rockerz 255 has an impedance of 16 ohms which produces almost the same kind of sound quality as Boat Bassheads 100. The ideal impedance for smartphones.

Due to lack of information from OnePlus, I’m not quite sure about the impedance and sensitivity but as per my own and other users’ experience, the sound quality is much clear and better than Rockerz 255.

Rockerz 255 got some decent 10 mm drivers for deep bass. The bass quality is as deep as the Bullet Z’s 9.2 mm re-engineered drivers.

So, to conclude the bass is good for both. The sound quality is clear and loud enough as well. But Bullet Z is an ideal balance between sound and bass.

Battery Life & Charging Time

You might already know that the warp charge of OnePlus gives Bullets Z up to 10 hours of backup just by charging 10 minutes.

There’s no fast charging and the total charging is very high. The total battery life is also very mediocre.

Rockerz 255 and Bullets Z bass edition offer 8 hours and 17 hours of great full battery life respectively. Rockerz 255 takes around 1.5 hours to fully charge and Bullets Z can take around 40-50 minutes.

In short, there’s a huge difference between the two. Bullets Z has more than the double battery life of Rockerz 255 and it gets fully charged almost 3 times faster.

Remote & Functions

A multi-function panel can be found at the left end of the neckband with all the necessary buttons like volume control, voice assistant, taking/ending calls, etc.

Miscellaneous

Bluetooth Version: Both editions have Bluetooth 5.0 with a 10 m range.

Water-Resistance: Bullets Z & Rockerz 255 are IP55 & IPX5 rated respectively. Both can survive a jet spray. Because Bullets Z is IP55, it has a resistance against dust too.

Call/Mic Quality: Rockerz 255 got a very poor quality mic. It barely catches any sound if the mic is a bit far from your face. Bullets Z is good for calls but the mic is not up to the mark but a lot better than Rockerz 255.

Noise Cancellation: Both have passive noise cancellation but again Bullets Z did a better job.

Accessories: USB-C /Micro USB cable for charging, earbuds of different sizes, and all the required papers like the manual, warranty card, etc are included.

5 Reasons To Choose OnePlus Bullets Z

Longer battery backup: More than the double battery backup of Rockerz 255.

Lower charging time: Thanks to USB-C. Bullets Z gets fully charged three times faster than Rockerz 255.

Better sound: The bass is similar the sound quality is more clear and better. Also, it’s perfect for use with laptops as well.

Better mic quality: Bullets Z got its own problem as it gets older like static noises in the background but normally the mic is good enough for normal purposes.

Stronger but elegant: Bullets Z has a full metal neckband with metallic earbuds. Even though the weight is very light and the neckband design is very minimal and compact.

Final Words

Making high-quality wireless earphones within a thousand rupees budget is a tough job and Boat did a great job with Rockerz 255. But some sacrifices like using plastic as the main material, mediocre battery life, and mic quality.

From the budget Rockerz, 255 itself is a decent piece of wireless earphones to use with smartphones but it will have a hard time against the OnePlus Bullets Z.

A bigger budget of course opens more opportunities to improve a product and the same happened here.
