Design & Build Quality

OnePlus Bullets Wireless Z Bass Edition comes in Bold Black, Bass Blue & Reverb Red, and JBL T205BT is available in Black, Blue, White & Rose Gold.

The colours of JBL T205BT were good but wish JBL made them think about users and paid more attention to the design.

First of all the earbuds are classic (not in-ear) and metallic which is the kind I avoid the most as they don’t really fit properly and slip off even if I just try to walk.

On the other hand, Bullets Z has in-ear type earbuds and designed for comfort. The earbuds have a mixture of plastic and metal with a glossy finish.

Because the classic earbud design of JBL T205BT tends to be bulky it may hurt your ears. But that is not the case with Bullets Z as it has in-ear buds.

When it comes to the neckband, I guess JBL T205BT used rubber. Just like the flat cables. This is why JBL T205BT is much lighter than Bullets Z.

The primary material of the neckband of Bullets Z is solid plastic with rubber coating as well. But I guess there’s a metallic base inside as well.

But don’t worry Bullets Z is very light as well. Only 28 grams. JBL T205BT is around 12 grams lighter.

To conclude, JBL T205BT is not really ergonomic. Still good when you are sitting but not really good in motion. The overall build quality looks fragile.

While OnePlus Bullets Z looks compact, elegant, and premium. Unlike JBL T205BT the control panel is very compact. In-ear earbuds make them very comfortable to use.

Bass & Sound Quality

OnePlus Bullets Z and JBL T205BT have 9.2mm and 12.5mm bass drivers respectively. But don’t come to any conclusion yet.

In my opinion, the 12.5mm drivers are kind of wasted on JBL T205BT. To get the most out of those drivers in-ear sealed earbuds are recommended.

Because the JBL T205BT is not in-ear type so the bass doesn’t reach completely inside your ears.

No matter how bigger the bass drivers are, in the end, without the proper earbud structure it doesn’t really matter.

On the other hand, OnePlus Bullets Z might have smaller bass drivers but it delivers sound and bass directly inside your ear.

So, it is obvious that the vocals, bass will be louder, clearer, and better. So, yes OnePlus Bullets Z is better.

Battery Life & Charging Time

OnePlus Bullets Z Bass Edition has a total battery life of 17 hours and JBL T205BT has only 6 hours which is pretty mediocre for the price it’s asking.

Also, it takes around 2 hours to get fully charged while Bullets Z only 50-55 minutes.

Another good thing about Bullets Z is the fast charging. When in rush, you can get up to 10 hours of playback in just 10 minutes.

JBL T205BT uses Micro-USB for charging while Bullets Z uses USB-C. With USB-C you don’t need to bother with the port side.

Remote & Functions

Both have a panel with the neckband with all the necessary buttons and controls to play/pause songs, take/ending calls, change tracks, control volume, and activate voice assistant.

Note: you can’t activate voice assistant with JBL T205BT.

Miscellaneous

Bluetooth Version: Bullets Z have Bluetooth 5 and JBL T205BT have Bluetooth 4. You can connect Bluetooth 4 with a device with Bluetooth 5 but might face some range and stability issues.

Water-Resistance: Bullets Z has IP55 dust & water resistance. But sadly JBL T205BT is not water-resistant. Pretty uncommon in this price range.

Call/Mic Quality: Good thing is both earphones have a good quality mic for calling and online sessions.

Noise Cancellation: Neither have ANC (Active Noise Cancellation). Bullets Z does a better job compared to JBL T205BT as it is in-ear.

Accessories: Micro-USB/USB-C cable for charging, earbuds of different sizes, charging case, and all the required papers like the manual, warranty card, etc are included.

I guess the only good thing about this earphone most from the users is it’s very lightweight and mic quality good. The sound quality is average.

But it lacks the bass, the battery only lasts around 4 hours or so, the design is not user-friendly, and so on.

Not really a good choice for workout and running as the earbuds don’t have a strong grip and are not water-resistant.

  • Good sound quality
  • Good mic quality
  • Tough metal earbuds
Cons
  • Bass feels light
  • Not ergonomic
