It’s time to compare two products from the same brand. OnePlus Bullets Z, which are neckband earphones vs OnePlus Buds Z which are earbuds.
Even though two are different kinds of things which their own advantages and disadvantages but still a lot of people like having confusion about which one to choose.
This Oneplus Bullets Wireless Z vs OnePlus Buds Z ultimate comparison article will go deep into each earphone and include all the things you need to choose the right one for you.
So, let’s dive in.
OnePlus Bullets Wireless Z Bass Edition
OnePlus Buds Z
Design & Build Quality
OnePlus Bullets Wireless Z Bass Edition comes in 3 colours – Bold Black, Bass Blue & Reverb Red, and OnePlus Buds Z comes in 2 colours – White & Grey.
First of all, the two products are completely different types. But both got a really good design and build quality.
OnePlus Buds Z is made of really tough plastic and some metal with a glossy finish and it weighs only 8.3 grams or so. This is obvious because all it got are two earbuds.
The earbuds design of the OnePlus Buds Z looks like it is OnePlus Bullets Z Bass Edition but without the cables and neckband.
On the other hand, we got OnePlus Bullets Z Bass Edition with metallic neckband and earbuds with a matte finish. The whole thing only weighs around 26 grams.
For comfort, I found both of them comfortable for longer sessions. No pain or discomfort. In case you face any problem you can always replace the ear tips but if I had to choose one the Bullets Z is more comfortable.
In short, both look very premium, compact, and durable. If you want to get rid of cable or wires then of course OnePlus Buds Z is a better choice.
Bass & Sound Quality
Due to the lack of information from OnePlus, I’m not really sure about the impedance but both sound really good and work equally well with both smartphones and laptops.
In my opinion, the sound quality of Bullets Z is better and clearer than OnePlus Buds Z
OnePlus Bullets Z works great with both smartphones and laptops as per my experience. But in terms of sound quality both are equally good.
OnePlus Bullets Z Bass Edition got the re-engineered version of 9.2 mm drivers from the normal edition which is pretty deep. Even though the OnePlus Buds Z got 10 mm drivers but I didn’t really feel the bass is better.
To conclude, OnePlus Bullets Z is better in terms of sound quality (slightly) and bass as well.
Battery Life & Charging Time
Both got some impressive battery life. OnePlus Bullets Z and Buds Z got 17 hours and 20 hours (5 hours in the earbuds, 15 hours in the charging case) of full battery life respectively.
OnePlus Bullets Z takes around 50-55 minutes to get fully charged while OnePlus Buds Z takes around 40 minutes to fully charge.
Both have a fast charging feature that can provide up to 10 hours of battery life for charging 10 minutes. It can vary based on the volume but 6-8 hours for sure.
Hopefully, both are fast charging features and this is where Bullets Z got a huge advantage. Bullets Z can provide around 10 hours of backup just by charging 10 minutes.
While OnePlus Buds Z lasts only 3 hours by charging 10 minutes. So, of course, people prefer Bullets Z more because everyone loves short charging time and longer backup.
Also, Bullets Z has the capability to last longer in one go while OnePlus Buds Z only last 5 hours then you need to recharge them from the case.
But it’s obvious because neckband earphones normally have bigger battery life compared to earbuds.
Remote & Functions
A multi-function panel can be found at the left end of the neckband of OnePlus Bullets Z with all the necessary buttons like volume control, voice assistant, taking/ending calls, etc.
OnePlus Buds Z has a touch panel to pause/play each earbud along with features like activating voice assistant, taking/ending calls.
Bluetooth Version: Both editions have Bluetooth 5.0 with a 10 m range.
Water-Resistance: Both Bullets Z and Buds Z has IP55 sweat & water resistance. IP55 earphones/earbuds can survive jet sprays and dust.
Call/Mic Quality: The mic quality of Bullets Z is average but good for normal calls. OnePlus Buds Z got a mic in each earbud and the quality is nice.
Noise Cancellation: OnePlus Bullets Z got Passive noise cancellation (PNC) that felt sufficient for me. On the other hand, OnePlus Buds Z has Active noise cancellation (ANC). PNC is often better compared to ANC because of the constant hissing sound. Hope it won’t bother you.
Accessories: USB-C cable for charging, earbuds of different sizes, and all the required papers like the manual, warranty card, etc are included.
Users’ Report, Pros & Cons
OnePlus Bullets Wireless Z
Bass lovers are highly satisfied with this modified version of OnePlus Bullets Z.
Also, the passive noise cancellation is better compared to the normal edition.
Users also found the low latency mode very helpful when playing online competitive games.
Few have complained about a cracking sound during calls and songs as well.
OnePlus Buds Z
Customers are totally satisfied with the sound quality, comfort, design. The mic quality is good enough for calling.
Bass lovers are a bit disappointed because of the bass quality despite having 10 mm drivers but it’s good enough.
Few suggested that the battery life could be better but in my opinion ist’s much better than many competitors in the market.
Also, connecting to another device except OnePlus gives many users trouble or issue.
4 Reasons To Choose OnePlus Bullets Z
Lasts longer: While the OnePlus Buds Z can last up to 20 hours including the charging case backup but OnePlus Bullets Z can last up to 17 hours straight without any interruptions.
Fast Charging: Both have a fast charging feature but Bullets Z lasts up to 10 hours from 10 minutes of charge while OnePlus Buds Z only 3 hours.
Better sound & bass: Both sounds great but Bullets Z sounds clearer. In terms of bass Bullets, Z is clearly better and deeper.
Better connectivity: Unlike OnePlus Buds Z, Bullets Z doesn’t become a bother while connecting to a non-OnePlus device.
3 Reasons To Choose OnePlus Buds Z
Low charging time: Even after having 3 hours more battery life it takes 15-20 minutes lesser compared to Bullets Z.
Lighter: Due to not having many things like neckband earphones it is a lot lighter and feels more comfortable in the ear.
No wires/cables: Earbuds are more convenient for you if you want to use them when in motion (like during exercise, running). Who doesn’t want to get rid of wires?
To choose the ideal first of all you need to consider how you are going to use them.
Earbuds will be great for you if you want to get rid of wires completely. Which is obviously better for use while in motion.
On the other side, Neckband earphones sound better than earbuds, have longer battery life. But might not be the best if you do too much intense workout.
