Just a few days ago I was comparing with OnePlus Bullets Z with Sony WI-C310. Make sure to check that article in case you haven’t.
Choosing the right wireless earphones can be a very hard task when there are so many popular brands with so many models.
It’s not possible for a normal person to have all the details about each of the earphones maybe you might not know how many other models are out there.
This Oneplus Bullets Wireless Z vs Sony WI 400 ultimate comparison article will go deep into each earphone and include all the things you need to choose the right one for you.
So, let’s dive in.
OnePlus Bullets Wireless Z
Design & Build Quality
Both OnePlus Bullets Wireless Z and Sony WI-C400 come with 4 different colour options. What a coincidence! But I have a problem with WI-C400’s build quality which I’m coming after colour options.
Other than black OnePlus Bullets Wireless Z comes in 4 different colours – Blue, Green, Orange & White and Sony WI-C400 come in 4 colours – Black, White, Red (more like pink) & Blue,
The neckband of Bullets Z is made of silicone rubber with a very smooth finish. On the other hand, the neckband of the Sony WI-C400 is made of plastic and not as flexible as Bullets Z.
It just doesn’t have the premium feeling of OnePlus Bullets Z or Sony WI-310 last time we talked.
Overall the design of both is very clean and very lightweight. Bullets Z is slightly lighter than WI-C400. As the design and neckband make it a bit bulkier.
In my personal opinion, in terms of build quality and design, the OnePlus Bullets Z really did a great job at such a low price.
Bass & Sound Quality
OnePlus Bullets Z got the ideal frequency of 20Hz – 20KHz. The ideal range human can hear. While Sony WI-C400 got a frequency range of 8Hz – 22KHz.
OnePlus Bullets Wireless Z and Sony WI-C400 have 9.2 mm & 9 mm drivers respectively. The bass could be identical but since the low frequency is enhanced of Bullets Z bass edition, it sounds deeper.
Sony WI-C400 has a 22 ohms impedance. OnePlus haven’t mentioned the impedance anywhere but guess it will be in the same 16-32 ohms range,
Neither of brands have mentioned the sensitivity so can’t really compare the loudness but I can say both are loud enough.
To conclude, the OnePlus provide much better sound and bass quality compared to Sony WI-C400. Again the winner in OnePlus Bullets Z.
Battery Life & Charging Time
This is the thing I like most about OnePlus Bullets. Charge for 10 minutes and you are good to go for 8-9 hours straight. OnePlus say it is 10 hours but it varies a bit on the usage. The max limit of battery backup is up to 20 hours.
On the other hand, Sony WI-C400 has a great battery life of 20 hours but unlike OnePlus Bullets, it takes 4.5 hours to fully reach that limit.
In short, 10 minutes of charge gives OnePlus Bullets and Sony WI-C400 10 hours & 60 minutes of battery life respectively. A day and night difference.
Remote & Functions
Both earphones have a remote and mic with all the necessary buttons to pause/play songs, control the volume, and power on/off.
Bluetooth Version: OnePlus Bullets Z has Bluetooth 5.0 but because Sony WI-C400 was released in 2017 it has Bluetooth 4.2.
Water-Resistance: OnePlus Bullets Wireless Z is IP55 sweat and water-resistant. An ideal choice if you want to use it during exercise. Unfortunately, Sony WI-C40 is not water-resistant.
Accessories: Both provide a required USB (USB-C for OnePlus and Micro-USB for Sony) cable for charging, earbuds of different sizes, and all the required papers like the manual, warranty card, etc.
Users’ Report, Pros & Cons
Oneplus Bullets Wireless Z
Almost everyone who invested in these wireless earphones is highly satisfied. The sound, bass quality, passive noise cancellation, charging time, build quality, battery life everything is good.
The only thing some have complained about is the poor mic quality. The mic quality could be better.
Even though it has some cool features like vibration notification it’s not so popular among fitness lovers because it’s not water-resistant.
Other than that the bass is not that much satisfied for bass lovers. Though the sound quality is satisfying. Also, the build quality might feel cheap according to a few reports.
Overall based on the price and competitors, users are not totally satisfied with what they paid.
5 Reasons To Choose OnePlus Bullets Wireless Z
Better Sound & Bass: The sound quality of OnePlus Bullets Z is a lot better compared to the Sony WI-C400. It almost feels like 32 ohms audio quality. Also, the bass itself might not be on a decent level but compared to Sony WI-C400, it’s surely better.
It’s Sweat & Water-Resistant: If you do heavy workouts on a regular basis like me then water-resistant earphones are a must-have and OnePlus Bullets got that while Sony WI-C400 doesn’t.
Very Fast Charging: In this era of rush we need everything fast and so is the charging speed. Charge OnePlus Bullets Z for 10 minutes and use for 8-10 hours.
Bluetooth 5.0: Even though it might not seem a great advantage but a majority of the devices comes with Bluetooth 5.0 now. So to get the benefit of the range, the stability of both of the devices having Bluetooth 5.0 is a must.
Cheaper: Last but not least, based on the features and quality, OnePlus Bullets should be costlier than Sony WI-C400 but the good thing is it’s a lot cheaper.
I tried to cover every aspect to conclude this comparison Hope you find this article helpful.
