Design & Build Quality

Realme Buds 2 has an overall matte finish with some glossy touch and an ‘R’ logo on the flat area. At the time of the first usage, you can tell how well-built and smooth the finishing is.

Sennheiser CX 180 on the other hand looks very simple and so plastic. But don’t think it’s fragile or looks poor.

Even though it might look fragile but actually pretty solid from the inside. It got an overall matte finish. The earbuds are designed to grip easily with fingers.

While both are lightweight and comfortable to use, the Sennheiser CX 180 is just too light. You won’t even feel you are wearing it. According to the info from the brand, it only weighs 5 grams.

Realme Buds 2 comes in 4 colours and but Sennheiser CX 180 comes in only one colour (mixture of black and grey).

To conclude, Realme Buds 2 is more design-focused while Sennheiser CX 180 focuses more on minimalism, simplicity, and better user experience.

Bass & Sound Quality

As most of the earphones of this price range, both have the 20-20kHz frequency range.

Keep in mind that Sennheiser CX 180 (16 ohms) is mainly designed for smartphones/tabs while Realme Buds 2 (32 ohms) is good for smartphones/tabs/laptops/desktops.

Earphones with 16 ohms impedance like Sennheiser CX 180 are mainly designed for devices with smaller batteries like smartphones to reduce power consumption.

But exceptionally CX 180 has 110dB SPL to produce louder sound while Realme Buds 2 has 106dB SPL. Not a huge difference. The loudness is almost equal.

In short, both earphones will sound the same despite you are using them with a smartphone or laptop. Doesn’t matter.

When it comes to bass then it is actually really hard to decide which one did a better job. The balance between treble and bass is just so good for both.

Realme Buds 2 has 11.2mm bass drivers. Not sure about Sennheiser CX 180 as there is no official mention but based on my experience it also has 11.2mm -12mm bass drivers.

I’ll say both produce equally deeper and thumping bass. But I think in terms of sound quality CX 180 did a better job even though both sound very identical.

To conclude, You won’t really regret it no matter which earphones you put your money on.

Mic, Remote & Functions

This is the weakness of Sennheiser CX 180. It doesn’t have an in-line remote or a mic. The remote-like thing is only a divider.

Now I have earphones just to enjoy music without any mic or remote. But also got earphones with a mic for regular purposes. If you are looking for a pair of earphones without a mic or remote then this is for you.

Realme Buds 2 on the other side got an in-line remote with 3 buttons with a mic as well.

2 volume control buttons and the middle one is to take/end calls, pause/play music/video, double-tap to skip tracks, and long press to activate voice assistant.
